The Sweet Escape

Smashing IT! 😋🍧😋 If you have a sweet tooth then do I have the place for you! Nestled in the heart of the Distillery District where all the cool and trendy people hand-out you'll find a authentic bakery called The Sweet Escape. I call it authentic because all of their sweets are homemade. Baked right at the very location that they sell them. True quality ingredients goes into all of their baked goods. Also, this is truly the best place in Toronto to get a grilled cheese sandwich! They also have an excellent selection of hot beverages, lattes and cold drinks to choose from. My favorite sandwich is definitely the brie with pear. Delectable! So if you're in the neighbour and strolling through the all the great things that the Distillery District has to offer make sure you're fueling up at The Sweet Escape! Great place for breakfast, lunch, dinner and even that afternoon snack! A great place to pick up some sweets for that holiday get together! Also GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!

I frequently come here in the summer for ice cream. I enjoy the Red Velvet flavour, it has chunks of red velvet cake! 🎂 The only reason I did not give this cute spot higher rating is because of their service. The staff are not as friendly nor welcoming and I am sure this is a consistent theme as I have visited this spot so many times over the years. Each time I visit, they provide service as though the customer is an inconvenience

Great little spot with super tasty food, from sweets to sandwiches. Tucked away in a corner shop area of the distillery district. Service was fast and friendly and there were lots of tables available to sit and take a break. Clean and well kept. We have dropped in here before and everything we have tried was fresh and tasty. Today we had a breakfast sandwich on walnut bread which was awesome! Excellent experience, thanks! Lots of tasty treats available to take home from here too!

This is such a cute and cozy little bakery tucked away in the Distillery District! The atmosphere is always welcoming, the service is amazing, and everything I’ve tried so far has been absolutely delicious. I’ve had a couple of their sandwiches—which were fresh and tasty—but my absolute favourite has to be the broccoli cheddar quiche. It’s rich, flavourful, and perfectly satisfying. The staff here are wonderful—there’s one girl in particular who always has the most beautiful makeup and is incredibly kind and helpful every time I visit. Little details like that really add to the charm of the place. Definitely a great spot to stop by if you're in the area!

For those looking for gluten-free product options that don't lose flavor, this place is certainly a great option. The store is small and is at the end of the corridor of the distillery's exhibition hall. The window is full of options: snacks, savory baked goods and lots of sweets. For drinks: hot and cold options. Service is provided directly at the counter, and after payment you can sit at the tables in the hall. For customers with limited mobility and disabilities, to enter the warehouse, there is an access ramp and the door is always open, and the store has no physical barriers. They do not have a menu in Braille, but they are ready to inform customers about the product options. On weekends, service tends to take a little longer due to the flow of people.
