Cafe Pastel

Joined a cake decorating class here of 8ppl total. The cafe is really tiny we had one table only to accommodate us all , the wall is aesthetic with flower motifs. For a quick course on different decorating styles this is a fun class to take and low pressure. As a cafe though it’s not a very friendly place. The coffee was just ok.

I debated writing a review because I want to support local businesses. However, given the price of these cakes, I felt it was important to share my experience. To begin on a positive note, I purchased the cherry ribbon cake in lemon strawberry, and it was absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately, once we cut into it, the experience went downhill and no one finished their slice, and the cake ultimately went uneaten. The cake itself had an unusual flavour so much so that the birthday girl commented it tasted like tart chicken. Both the cream filling and icing had a waxy texture and taste. I read the negative reviews before I purchased this cake but wanted to experience for myself. Now I wished I listened to those reviews. If you’re gonna spend 80+ dollars on a cake, spend a little more and get a beautiful cake that actually tastes good or save your $$ and get an ice cream cake.

This is an amazing bakery! They were very friendly and helpful when I had questions— answered emails fast. Our cake was so beautiful and tasted great!! Will definitely come here again.

My review is going to be based off eating the spinach and feta pastry and the beauty of this cafe. I’ve passed a few times and the outside is simple yet captivating. That was THE best spinach and feta pastry I think I’ve ever had. It had a delicate crunch and lovely smooth filling. It was perfect. The cakes are swoon worthy, elegant & cute! I fell in love with the interior. Staff were very kind and friendly. Wonderful & whimsical aesthetic!

We ordered a custom birthday cake for our toddler and the results were absolutely stunning - we requested a turtle themed cake inspired by brickworks in Toronto and the cake Maliha created for us was absolutely stunning - the vanilla custard inside was also delicious. Thanks for creating such a special cake for our celebration! ❤️
