Trapped Ottawa Escape Room & Bar

I am giving two stars instead of one solely because the two women working when we went were helpful and friendly and the puzzles would have been clever if they worked properly. Unfortunately, many of the elements in the room were glitchy. We have done dozens of escape rooms all over the world and this was the least well maintained one we have been to. I also just wanted to note that they give a discount if you show them a review, so the reviews on here are likely artificially high. As for what went wrong: A projection didn’t play, 2 sets of boxes didn’t open, and magnets didn’t register when they should have. This wasted a lot of time because despite getting these puzzles right, nothing would happen, so we would think we got them wrong. We would keep trying different things until the worker noticed and would help us move on. Also, another puzzle requires some touch force (it didn’t work with a gentle or normal touch) which was counterintuitive because we were told never to force anything. It was fairly temperamental, so I think it maybe used to respond to normal touches, but is wearing down. There was also one later box that was already open, but they did leave a note to wait on it, so it wasn’t that big of a deal. One last tip: I think that each person should get a mini flashlight for the room because it is very dark and was difficult for those without a flashlight to be able to look for clues. If you want solid escape rooms without so many glitches, we have loved the ones at the Diefenbunker (so cool!), Escape Manor (we have gone to their Elgin and Junior locations), and Jigsaw.

Went to Trapped for the first time last night and was very disappointed. It started off with the staff telling us they did not have enough lockers, so 6 of us had to fit our winter jackets and purses into two lockers which were, quite literally, bursting open. We had to push the door shut and hold it while we locked it and even then, the locker was left open at the bottom because they were just so overfilled. Not a great start. The room itself was pretty cool, but there were so many issues with puzzles not triggering that it became very frustrating. We solved puzzles correctly multiple times without the next response triggering resulting in a lot of wasted time. We didn't finish within the hour but the staff was willing to show us the final puzzles. Even she had issues with things not triggering which just reiterated to us that this is was major flaw of the room itself and not an issue on our part. Between the lack of space for safe storage of our belongings, puzzles not working and honestly, the location itself, we will not be back.

We recently did the REM room and it was honestly such a great experience. Rooms were super immersive and the theme was really creative. The puzzles were challenging but in a good way. The staff were very friendly, and they made the whole experience more fun. You can tell they care about making it fun for everyone. Highly recommend if you’re looking for something fun to do in Ottawa with friends. We’ll definitely be back to try another room!

My group had such a great time at this escape room! It was slightly scary but we were aware that it was rated 14A I would definitely recommend this escape room to anyone who's looking for a good puzzle with a bit of fright.

As someone who’s been doing escape rooms for a while, I love this place! The staff is really friendly and welcoming, and the escape rooms are very creative and interactive which I love :) I went with one friend for fun without a reservation and they were able to give us a room for the two of us, which ended up being the hardest one but honestly it was the perfectly hard and entertaining, and we were able to do at least 1/2 of it. It’s too bad they don’t have parking since it is downtown and a little hidden, but it truly is a hidden gem! 10/10 recommend :)
