What parents are saying
Best bowling alley ever. Good deals. Great lanes. Awesome owner drilled my first ball and I got a high score that same day. Very friendly and accommodating staff.
Worst experience ever deserves a 0 but can't go that low Had my son's 30th party there (he has autism) and the treatment was horrendous. The owner, some angry man, was rude to my party planner, my guests and me. He started the lane timer before all the guests arrived and then yelled at me that it was our fault we stood around for half an hour not playing, he basically started the timer when the first guests got their shoes even before the birthday boy arrived. When asked if he could just let them finish the 1 game he yelled again and then accused us of bringing outside food etc. Yes we brought a cake but you can't tell me the bowling alley bakes cakes!! I paid almost $700 for 4 bowling lanes that came with 1 pizza each and a pitcher of drink. I also ordered extra platters and chicken finger meals to accommodate everyone. So accusing us of bringing outside food and yelling at us was so uncalled for. The only saving grace was the 2 young men behind the food counter, they were courteous, helpful, and accommodating. It wouldnt have cost the man a single dime to add 15 minutes to the lanes considering he started them almost 30 minutes before we were ready. There were no other people waiting for the lanes either. So all in all NEVER EVER WILL I GIVE THIS PLACE MONEY AGAIN. Highly recommend NOT booking a birthday here especially if the owner is around.
I visited Skyway Bowl after not going bowling for several years and was looking forward to the experience. Unfortunately, the customer service completely overshadowed everything else. From the moment we walked in, the front desk attendant was noticeably rude and unwelcoming. Her tone was dismissive, and it was clear she had little interest in helping. Several members of my group were spoken to rudely, including when a friend asked for a shoe size scale and was met with an unnecessary and condescending remark instead of assistance. The situation escalated when she noticed I had a water bottle with a closed lid and only water inside. While I understand and respect venue policies, the way this was handled was inappropriate. I was abruptly told to either put it back in my car or have it dumped out. There was no attempt to explain the policy politely or offer a reasonable alternative, such as holding it at the front desk. After I left the bottle at our table, she returned and said she would be taking it, then questioned “don’t you have a car to put it in???”. Expecting a customer to interrupt their activity, remove bowling shoes, and go outside in –20°C weather over a sealed water bottle is unreasonable and stupid, particularly when the situation could have been handled professionally and kindly. Overall, this was one of the worst customer service experiences I have had. The attitude and lack of professionalism significantly impacted my visit and completely ruined what should have been an enjoyable outing. I will not be returning, and I would not recommend this location to others.
I don't to share an experience, but I will comment on one. I was thinking about joining a league at Skyway lanes, or maybe just going for an evening of enjoyment. HOWEVER ! After reading some of these horror stories I've changed my mind. I'm pretty good at surmising what is correct and what is not. From what I've read from different people's on both sides of the racism and bullying comments I have to say that I definately believe there is a level of racism and bullying at Skyway Bowling Lanes. For management to not allow qualifying bowling shoes that are not provided by the establishment is totally rediculous. I have bowled for many years and in many different city's in Ontario, and this is the only place and time I have ever heard of that rule at any time nor any where. So I will opt out of making this establishment a possible choice of self enjoyment. ( This comment is written without predjudisim) Linda Seller. Skyway Bowl in Hamilton stands out as a quintessential community hub, blending a nostalgic 10-pin bowling experience with modern energy. Since its revival under owner and former pro bowler Lionel Lewis, the alley has transformed into a "second home" for locals, offering 24 well-maintained lanes, a fully-licensed snack bar, and a welcoming atmosphere for everything from high-stakes leagues to glowing Rock 'n' Bowl nights. The venue’s greatness is fueled by its commitment to family-centric fun and its ability to host seamless events, whether it's a child's birthday party or a corporate team-building session. A significant part of this success is the dedicated staff, exemplified by employees like Nathan. In an industry where the customer experience is as important as the lane conditions, Nathan’s presence ensures that every guest feels like a priority. Known for his professionalism and helpfulness, Nathan goes above and beyond to assist new bowlers and maintain the smooth operation of the facility. His reliability and positive attitude embody the community spirit that Skyway Bowl is famous for, making him an invaluable asset to the team and a favorite among regular patrons. I will be coming here again and have been in contact with Nathan.
