Gravity Climbing Gym - Hamilton

My friends and I came to Gravity Climbing Gym and absolutely loved our experience! There was a variety of climbs, and the top rope section was fun to climb! (It was very different than what we are used to as some of us climb at Junction, our home gym). Olivia and Lane were also awesome, very helpful and friendly! 10/10 would recommend! :D

I have been going for a few months now and I think this is my favorite climbing gym, all the staff have been extremely welcoming and helpful. When I did not have my own shoes I would get there rental and a rented chalk bag from them and if the chalk was low they would insist that I would not need pay for it. When I was just starting I would commonly ask staff for any advice if they where close by, they always seemed more then willing to help and gave me advance that was easy to understand but also very helpful. The climbes change regularly and are varied for every skill level and style of climbing making for a great experience. Over all I have to say from the over gyms I have been to Gravity is my favorite.

I'll start with saying, overall I like the gym and it has alot of potential with the walls being so tall and the layout is great. BUT the difficulty in climbing here doesn't come from the sets, it's the absolutely terrible, ancient holds that populate most of the gym. It removes alot of the fun climbing here. This isn't just from me but any climbers I've brought here have the same take and collectively we climb at all of the gyms in the GTA on the reg. Gravity has hands down the worst holds second only to TCA. I must say, they are making an effort and you'll get some routes that are actually all one hold set and newer, those tend to be the most enjoyable at Gravity. Also, if you are lead climbing here you must bring your own draws for alot of routes. I thought it was cool at first. I thought to myself this is like the outdoors, you have to hang your own draws. The novelty wears off FAST. I don't want to bring a set of draws to the gym everytime I lead climb just to do the odd route that doesn't have draws on them. PLEASE correct this.

Great gym with routes that are regularly updated to keep it fresh. Lots of bouldering space. Their youth programs seem top notch, and they have done a fantastic job with my 4 year old learning to climb. My only (minor) annoyance is that the routes are one rope/one route as opposed to mixed routes which I prefer because it gives more of a cognitive aspect to the climb, but I understand that this is just my personal preference and there are pros and cons to reach approach. Other than that, it's an amazing set up in an amazing space with amazing employees!

Came for the first time with Junction as my home gym and loved it. I only got to try bouldering but the climbs were all fantastic and the grading was super clear. There were also a variety of comp climbs (and a single) crack which really got to show off the setting team’s skill. Noel checked us in and was wonderfully helpful in explaining everything and getting us oriented. I’ll defensively be back if I’m ever in Hamilton again!
